Actor Martin Clunes has been a keen surface diver for over ten years and he has a deep fascination for manta rays. In this documentary he undertakes a journey of self-discovery which he hopes will culminate with a swim among the manta rays near a remote island in the Indian Ocean. Boasting a wingspan of 25 feet, manta rays are one of the most mysterious and gentle giants of the ocean. Once a year, dozens of them gather to gorge on plankton in an isolated bay in the Maldives, and it is this spectacle which Martin hopes to witness.
