After receiving a guilt-trip-laden phone call from her demanding mother-in-law, Rose, Tammy decides to take the whole family with her on her trip to the Big Apple. On top of the pressure of a stand-up gig at the famous New York City comedy club Caroline’s, Tammy attempts to get closer to her overcritical mother-in-law, and puts herself through the gauntlet as she tries to learn one of Rose’s authentic Italian recipes.
But the inevitable head-clashing begins when Rose crashes Tammy and Luca’s date night at a nearby restaurant. Feeling unable to connect, Tammy does her best to break down her barrier with Rose and become a worthy daughter-in-law.
