America has given birth to a new breed of pensioner, and they are super fit. The seniors of On Top of the World, Florida are doing everything they can to fight off old age. But what happens when you send four young unfit, unhealthy Brits to live with some of the fittest pensioners in the world?24-year-old couch potato Stuart Harding, 24-year-old binge drinker Ceri Mahoney, 21-year-old exercise hater Jerome Thomas and 19-year-old party girl Lanette Rawcliffe are about to have their worlds turned upside down. For a week they will stay with 60-year-old Dotty and her 63-year-old boyfriend Don Durges, and 71-year-old Bobby and 72-year-old Jack Roeder.
The hosts might be in their retirement years, but all four don’t stop until they drop. From weightlifting to pilates and running, they are all looking forward to re-educating the lazy young Brits into healthy living.Back in Blighty the young Brits are fuelled by fags, booze and junk food, but during this life-changing week they exercise to the max, swap burgers and chips for salads and oatmeal and are pushed to their emotional and physical limits.
And at the end of the week they face the ultimate battle of the ages when they take on four golden oldies in a test of endurance – running over two miles and clearing horse jumps – to find out if they really are fitter than a pensioner.Can boozy Ceri stick with the fitness programme? Will overweight Stuart’s blister ruin his chances? And how will the Brits fare in the big race? Will they run and jump their way to victory – or suffer defeat at the hands of super-fit pensioners?
