As lawyer Roland Carson argues with a client, several armed men burst into his apartment. Carson’s bodyguard, James Belson, rushes the gunmen, but they open fire, injuring him and fatally wounding Carson’s client. The robbers make off in a helicopter with over $5 million worth of jewels.
Flack and Danny locate the helicopter that the men used to make their escape, and inside they discover the dead body of one of the criminals. Later, at the lab, Hawkes recovers a microchip from one of the empty jewel bags found in the helicopter. Adam uses the signal to trace the other chips, and is surprised when he is led to Sid’s morgue. He finds the microchip embedded in a shoe belonging to a John Doe, who died recently from a gunshot wound to the head.
